SOUTH AFRICAN LEADERS STAND AGAINST ANTISEMITISM

We, leaders hailing from diverse sectors and professions across South Africa, hold dear the vibrant tapestry of our nation—a tapestry woven with acceptance, cultural richness, and the values of a modern, tolerant democracy.

In recent weeks, our country has witnessed a concerning surge, a 482% increase in antisemitic incidents that has touched every corner of our land. The use of offensive language, acts of vandalism, and instances of harassment have marred our streets, university campuses, and iconic South African landmarks, including but not limited to, Table Mountain, Nelson Mandela Square, and the Union Buildings.

Our stance is resolute; we firmly denounce racism in all its manifestations as despicable and reprehensible. Whether targeted at Jewish South Africans, Christians South Africans, Muslim South Africans, Indigenous South Africans, or any other minority group, such conduct has no place in our workplaces, and we vehemently reject it within our communities.

To our Jewish colleagues, business associates, customers, and all those affected, we extend our heartfelt acknowledgment. We stand united against antisemitism and are committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity, understanding, and respect for all.
